In Memoriam

Very Rev. Peter T. Sticco, S.A.C.

Picture
The Very Rev. Peter T. Sticco, S.A.C., Provincial Rector of the Pallottines of the Immaculate Conception Province and Pastor of Our Lady of Grace Church in Fairview, New Jersey, entered eternal life on November 30, 2025. He was a beloved shepherd of God’s People.

Born on June 5, 1942, in Brooklyn, New York to Pasquale and Lucy (Russo) Sticco, Fr. Peter entered the Pallottine Fathers and Brothers at the age of thirteen attending the minor seminary of the Pallottines at Bishop Eustace Preparatory School in Pennsauken, New Jersey. Following his graduation, he entered the Pallottine Novitiate at Queen of Apostles Novitiate in Sag Harbor, New York. He made his First Profession as a Pallottine on August 22, 1962, moving then to Pallottine Seminary at Green Hill, West Hyattsville, Maryland for his undergraduate and graduate studies at Xaverian College, St. Joseph Seminary, and Oblate College. He was ordained a priest on April 12, 1969, at All Saints Church in Brooklyn, New York.

During his many years of service as a Pallottine priest, he served as Vocation Director, Pastor of Our Lady of Grace Church, Pastor of Our Lady of Pompei Church in Brooklyn, Director of Pallottine Center for Apostolic Causes/St. Jude Shrine Promotional Center in Baltimore, Mission Secretary, Provincial Bursar, and Provincial Rector. In his last years, he served in multiple positions at the same time including Provincial Rector, Pastor of Our Lady of Grace Church, and Director of Pallottine Center for Apostolic Causes.

Fr. Peter was a true missionary and assisted the work of the international missions of the Pallottines throughout the world. In particular, he oversaw the initial development and expansion of the Pallottine mission in Peru to which he traveled often.

In 1982, Fr. Peter began twenty years of faithful service as a Chaplain in the United States Air Force. He did this duty in addition to his many pastoral and administrative works. He retired in 2002 as a Lieutenant Colonel. Seeing the pastoral need of married couples and families, he obtained a Master of Arts from Iona College in 1988 and a Doctor of Ministry from New York Theological Seminary in 1991, both in family and marital counseling.

Throughout his life as an exemplary Pallottine priest, Fr. Peter dedicated himself particularly to the pastoral care of children, youth, and young adults. He was famous for his regular visits to the Academy of Our Lady of Grace, for his leadership and presence in the parish youth program called YCT (Youth Coming Together), and for his ministry with young adults in the parish, the military, and far beyond. Fr. Peter always assisted all, both young and old, to live as apostles of Christ which is in the spirit of St. Vincent Pallotti, Founder of the Pallottines.

Fr. Peter is survived by his siblings, Phyllis Condon, Jeannette Bertucelli, Charles Sticco, and Lucille Joye, ten nieces and nephews, and nineteen grandnieces and grandnephews as well as his brothers in the Pallottine community.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Jude Shrine, 512 West Saratoga Street, Baltimore, Maryland 20201.
