A new Pallottine mission was opened on February 23, 2014 in the Archdiocese of Ayacucho, Peru, under the jurisdiction of the Immaculate Conception Province and in collaboration with San Paolo Province. During the solemn Eucharistic celebration presided over by the Chancellor of the Archdiocese, Msgr. Percy Quispe Misaico and concelebrated by the Rector General, Fr. Jacob Nampudakam, the then-Provincial Rector of the Immaculate Conception Province, Fr. Peter Sticco, the Provincial Rector of the San Paolo Province, Fr. Elias Fadul, and numerous other priests and in the presence of a large number of faithful, the two missionaries, Fr. Manoel Santana Viera and Fr. Edvan Viera Serra Sena were appointed as a Team of priests in solidum of the parish of Our Lady of Carmel at Vilcashuaman.
The parish has many communities spread over a large geographical area. One of these communities is the sanctuary of Immaculate Conception at Huambalca which is in need of urgent renovation. The Rector General, in his message, thanked the Metropolitan Archbishop, Msgr. Salvador Piñeiro who invited the Pallottines to his Archdiocese; he also thanked both the Provincials Fr. Peter Sticco and Fr. Elias Fadul for the excellent spirit of collaboration in starting this mission.
The Rector General also mentioned that this new mission was a response to the invitation of Pope Francis to go out to the periphery and dedicated this new missionary venture to St. Vincent Pallotti on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of his Canonization.
